Reflection

Pre-production

Pre-production is my least strongest area and was very lacklustre for both projects unfortunately, for The Matrix Trailer, I created a short storyboard of the opening sequence and rough ideas for some shots in my head. For Late For School, I planned a bit more, brainstorming the idea, writing a shotlist, doing a pretty rough storyboard and scouting the area I was filming in. There are many areas of impromement for this, procrastinating could obviously be much better, as well as doing more planning, although for school projects like this I don't actually see much need for it. I do beleive I have improved at pre-production over the course of the component however, and will do my best to plan out future assignments more thoroughly.

Production

Production was very fun and probably my 2nd strongest area. Due to the relative lack of planning I decided on a lot of camera angles or shots while filming them, this made filming very fun. I used a tripod for most if not all the shots in C2LA1 and C2LA2, and my iPhone X as the camera, they work pretty well. in The Matrix Trailer, I filmed at night, in my house at day and in my garden at day, the filming was very fun as my cat joined in and you can see her present in a few shots. Filming for Late For School was similarly fun, the breakfast shot/scene was actually filmed while I was eating my breakfast. Getting my cat, Marvin to stay still was quite hard but easier than you'd think. I could improve my filming skills by planning more, although once again I'm not sure if I need to for things like that for these types of things. Another way I could improve is by getting a better camera that has a wider angle lens, my iPhone X makes shots feel very zoomed in and the cinematic feel from shots seems to be missing and that might be why.

Post-Production

Production consisted only really of editing, for both projects it was quite fun, although the editing software was very painful to use as it was poorly designed. The editing process consisted of getting the clips from my phone using google photos, importing them into premier rush, cutting and organising them into the correct order, and timing them correctly with the song. Overall the editing came along very nicely and in both cases the projects were better than I expected. Something I definately couldv'e done better is use a better editing program, Premier rush is awful and incredibly basic, things like keyframes simpily can't be used. Despite this, a way I have improved over the course of the project is I've improved at using premier rush.
